Re: Type Ahead - Against Database / Google Maps

Thanks Roland,

I found Google Maps and Google Search in CodeXchange.

Previously, I have used the Google Maps example as the basis to create a vehicle tracking system. Frankly, it was arduous. I think by then there was a later version of the Google Maps API and I essentially was reduced to using PowerBuilder to generate all of the Javascript and it their URL to create a map with the GPS locations of all of our vehicles.  I had to hire a guy in Britain to help me work through the javascript.  I would not wish that project on anyone.

Looking at the Google Search example in CodeXchange it looks like it simulates searching Google and presenting the results in a window.  I did not see anything that looked like it calls Google to get address matches such that you could present them in a drop down list box or drop down data window.

At this point, I think that we can pretty much consider Google to be a fixture in our lives.  I don't really know anything about 3rd party controls, but I would love to simply buy one, install it, drop it on the window and call it to present the results of an address and then get the results of the address selected. Does such a thing exist?

Thanks again!! Paul
